Label TextToward the end of his stay in Rome, Kensett planned a trip to Naples. Inscribed "May 30 1847 / Via Appia," this drawing indicates that Kensett concluded his tour of southern Italy by traveling on the historic Appian Way. The following September, he was back in France and in November he returned to America after seven years abroad.
