Label TextThe names of various villages appear on many of Kensett's figure drawings. For example, Standing Female Figure, Back View is inscribed "Procida," an island off the coast of Italy. Although the model's costume may have been from that region, the watercolors were actually done in classes in Rome. Kensett inscribed Seated Male Figure "Costume of the Brigand," revealing his interest in the clothing the model wore and the type of figure he represented.Status
