Label TextWith its pendant on the right (#26.89), this portrait presumably depicts half of a newlywed couple. The sitter faces us in a three-quarter pose against a distant landscape, a format based on Flemish painting. Italians appreciated the naturalness of the pose, in contrast to the more static profile view, seen in the panel on the right, which derives from such images on ancient Italian coins.Status
