Label TextIn this image, the Madonna holds a curly-haired Christ Child on a richly brocaded cushion placed on a ledge, with an expansive landscape beyond. Pinturicchio painted the Child gazing serenely out toward the viewer, as if he were aware of his own holiness. He holds a globe, symbol of his dominion over the earth. Pinturicchio paints the globe as if made of transparent crystal to show off his artistic skill.Status
