Label TextPhotographer Hiromu Kira (1898-1991) was born in Hawaii, educated in Japan, and in 1916 settled in the Pacific Northwest. He was a founding member of the Seattle Camera Club and part of the artistic community of Los Angeles’s Little Tokyo in the 1920s and 30s. Winter Reflection was made in Seattle, where the artist pursued a Pictorialist aesthetic, and before he developed his modernist approach after moving to Los Angeles in 1926.
