Label TextThis painting by Richard Redgrave depicts a poacher with a shotgun waiting in the shadows beside a duck pond. A group of women and children walk on a sunlit path in the distance. An unusual subject, its meaning was probably deliberately ambiguous. Known for his design work as well as his paintings, Redgrave also produced the “Well-Spring” Jug and Tumblers on display in this room.Status
