MarkingsCollector’s seals:
Lower right: “Collection of the Hermitage for Reclining” (Wo An suo cang 臥菴所藏)
Seal belonging to a late Ming-early Qing connoisseur named Zhu Zhichi 朱之赤, who seems to have been a major collector at the time. His seals appear on a number of important works in museum collections around the world, and he is known to have collected works by Lan Ying. His family was originally from Anhui, but he was active near Suzhou. He seems to have become a Daoist monk after the Qing conquest.
Lower left: “Treasured by the Library of Collected Truth” (Yunzhen Shuwu zhenshang 蘊真書屋珍賞)
Seal belonging to a mid-Qing (mid-18th century) publisher named Huang Shengqian 黃聖謙, who may have been active in Anhui Province. We have yet to learn much about him, other than that he was very interested in the Book of Changes (Yi jing 易經).
