DescriptionVibrantly painted blanked chest; this chest represents the early nineteenth-century rural Vermont “high style.” The faux grain painting in red, green, brown and black resembles mahogany, satinwood, flame birch, tiger maple and bird’s eye maple veneers seen on fashionable federal furniture. This blanket chest stands on high cut out tapered feet with a carved skirt. The lower single drawer with thumbnail molding has glass pulls and the upper blanket chest has a lift top.
